The course focuses on current issues in the area of foreign policy of states as principal actors in international arena. We are primarily striving to identify reasons why states act as they do in international politics. The course studies foreign policy decision making processes in historical perspective, but also makes particular emphasis on contemporary foreign policy decision making. Foreign policies are judged in their contextual framework, including foreign policies of superpowers as well as small states.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
The course aims to introduce students to the basic elements, actors, and context of foreign policy decision making process.
