Students must complete a 30-working-day (6 weeks) practice in a company that is related to or builds upon principles students have covered as part of their GBE curriculum. As part of the Internship obligation, students are exposed to a real life working environment and have an opportunity to become involved in many aspects of the genetics and bioengineering development processes of the industry. Students will begin to understand what is required for effective day-to-day laboratory tasks and maintenance and thus begin to develop a sense of responsibility, accountability as well as build upon their professional skills they have begun to develop, such as time management, communication and organization. Internships could be completed either in the private or public sector in companies that are related to any and all disciplines the students have been exposed to within the GBE curriculum. Students document observations during their practical training and present their internship experience twofold, namely in the form of a technical report as well as an oral presentation during the final exam period of the following semester.

The cognitive, affective and behavioral objectives of this course are following:

- Encouraging students to develop a sense of responsibility.
- Enabling practical training.
- Promote report writing and documentation.
