The course provides basic knowledge of building and construction materials, their origin, production, properties, application and installation as well as their advantages and disadvantages versus other materials. The specific attention is paid to structural materials, energy efficient materials and state of the art materials related to the modern architectural design.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
• Introduce students with basics of building materials and their basic properties
• Provide information about the importance of knowing the materials production process and properties;
• Introduce the process of choosing Building materials, their application and installation.
• Develop awareness about the relationship between materials, structural forms and function in the building
